Week 5: Racing Drone Engineering (7/13–7/17)
Campers will build their own tiny whoop racing drone from the ground up — assembling the frame, soldering electronic components, and configuring the flight controller. Students learn how motors, ESCs, sensors, and software work together to create a fast, stable flying machine.
Before flying in real life, campers train using a drone flight simulator, learning throttle control, steering, and spatial awareness. Once ready, students take their drones to the park for real-world flight, racing challenges, and skill-based courses.
By the end of the week, each camper takes home a fully built and flyable racing drone, along with the skills to repair, tune, and confidently fly it.
Materials Fee: $245
This fee covers the complete tiny whoop racing drone kit, motors, flight controller, electronics, batteries, soldering materials, and all programming and flight setup used during the week. Each camper builds and takes home a fully functional racing drone, along with the skills to fly, repair, and tune it — making this one of the most technically advanced projects of the summer.
